An argument essay is the kind of essay that focuses on taking a side. You’ll have a particular issue or current event for a topic, and then you have to argue your side that you believe in. • Talk to a professional in the industry. This is actually one of the best ways to find topic ideas, because if you can meet and interview someone you either admire or disagree with, you can get some good quotes to use as well as that person’s firsthand opinion.
• Ask your teacher about what students have written in the past. He or she will remember the best topics and also the most overdone topics, from other years of teaching this same class.

After you have a good list, you should be able to find a few that really strike home with you. If you’re feeling more inclined towards one topic, then why not write it? Your interest will show through your writing, and it’ll be easier to research and do the work when you have a passion for this type of topic. Think about what interests you and focus on that, because likely it’ll get the attention of your reader, too.
