A lot can be argued about junk food. So many people continue to purchase from these stores because of price, convenience, and even addiction. Consider arguing against junk food companies via these 7 argumentative topics:
Pain medication has restrictions on usage because of addictive properties. Argue that junk food is just as—if not more—addictive, and should therefore have similar restrictions to regulate people who overdo it.
A main reason why junk food is so often purchased is because of the low prices. Low income consumers are more prone to buy this food because it costs cheaper than buying fresh produce and making home cooked meals. Argue that junk food should be made more expensive, and further argue that subsidies should be made on healthy food.
Tests have proven that MSG, high fructose corn syrup, and sugar have negative effects on the brain and blood sugar. Argue that this is good enough reason to ban children of certain ages from eating this food.
According to the documentary, “Super Size Me”, government passed a law that no fast food company could be sued by a consumer on the basis of the food’s health risks. Argue that this is a ridiculous law that should be done away with.
If cigarettes have health warnings on them, then so should burger wrappers! Convince your reader that health warnings are a must for fast food packaging as well as store fronts.
Argue that too much money is spent on climate change documentaries and not enough on shows depicting junk food health dangers. Provide some reasonable remedies for this problem and convince your reader of their merit.
One of the reasons so many people associate junk food with “being cool” is because of the lobbyists who promote the companies that sell it. Argue that this is an unethical practice and that public figures should be banned from promoting anything that is harmful to your health.
